“Both my husband and I first became associated with Hospice as volunteers. When we discovered that my husband had cancer and that it was terminal, we turned to Hospice. It was definitely a God send to us.”


Each year, Hospice sponsors a variety of events and outreach programs that inform the public about the special care it provides to the terminally ill and to raise funds for its operations.

Four issues of Hospice’s newsletter, “Heartbeat,” are mailed each year to 2,500 households and businesses. Each issue contains informative articles and a calendar of hospice events.

Hospice sponsors monthly meetings as part of its “Bereavement Program” for family members to learn more about healthy steps in the grieving and recovery process.

Hospice volunteers meet monthly to learn new and better ways of providing service to hospice patients and their families.

Hospice staff members participate in various outreach programs such as community health fairs and maintain a speakers bureau to provide informative speakers for organizational meetings about hospice care giving.

A community players group and local business sponsors assist Hospice in staging its annual Spring “Mystery Dinner Theater” fundraiser that benefit hospice programs.

Hospice patients, who have died during the year, are honored each June during Hospice’s annual “Memorial Remembrance Service.”

Each December, Hospice erects its “Holiday Dove Tree,” decorated with personalized dove ornaments, that honors hospice patients who have died during the year. “The Toilet Paper Tea,” an annual open house at the Hospice office, provides a festive way for patrons to provide paper towels, soap, paper clips and office supplies that help offset office expenses.
